At Truvelop, we know that change isn’t just manager-driven. Employees have the ability to drive their own experience and create an environment that inspires growth and engagement. That’s why Truvelop sends out monthly Truvelop Tips directly to the employees of each of our clients. Here’s an excerpt from October’s Employee Truvelop Tip: Using Data & Dialogue to Drive Your Development.
As the light changes and we settle into the rhythm of fall, many of us feel a shift at work, too. It’s a season of busy goals, changing priorities, and for some, a sense of uncertainty or disconnection. These feelings are completely valid.
While this time of year can be demanding, it’s also a powerful opportunity for us to actively shape the environment we work in. A strong sense of belonging, of feeling seen, valued, and connected, is something we can build together. It’s the key to not just surviving this busy season, but thriving through it.
This culture starts with each of us. We all have a role in creating a workplace we’re proud of, and often, the smallest actions have the biggest ripple effect. Here are a few ways we can all lean into belonging:
Advocate for Your Experience: If you’re feeling disconnected, reach out. Send a message to a colleague you haven’t spoken to lately, suggest a coffee chat, or speak up in a meeting to share a fresh idea. Your perspective is needed and will help increase feelings of investment in the shared success of your team.
Be an Inclusive Force: Make space for others by actively listening and inviting input from teammates with different styles. A simple “What are your thoughts on this?” can make someone feel truly valued and can help everyone brainstorm the best next steps.
Celebrate the Small Wins: Acknowledging each other’s efforts builds a culture of appreciation. Take a moment to thank a coworker for their help or to call out a team success, no matter how small. Try posting this to the Recognition Wall to bring in shoutouts from other team members as well.
This isn’t about adding more to our plates, but about bringing a more intentional spirit to the work we’re already doing. By taking these small steps, we can collectively foster the connection and support that makes our team strong.
