One of the many benefits of Truvelop is the messaging our Customer Success team sends to leaders and managers each month. Through Truvelop Tips, we share best practices, proactive recommendations, and quicks tips with end users on various topics. Here is an excerpt from the most recent Truvelop Tip: Bridge the Gap Heading into Year-End.
As the days grow shorter and we move into the busy final stretch of the year, the workplace naturally undergoes its own transitions. Teams are navigating shifting priorities, ambitious year-end goals, and evolving roles and dynamics. For many employees, this period of change can also bring feelings of uncertainty or disconnection.
This makes it a crucial moment for all leaders to intentionally double down on fostering a sense of belonging. A strong sense of belonging is a critical driver of engagement, performance, and retention. During these transitional or high-demand periods, it can make all the difference between a team that feels aligned and motivated, and one that drifts into disengagement.
As a leader, your role in creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued is more important than ever. To support this, here are a few actionable steps you can take:
Reconnect Individually: Schedule dedicated, informal check-ins with each team member. Go beyond project updates and take a human approach by asking how they are doing and actively listen to their responses. You can meet your team where they’re at when you actually know what they need.
Clarify Purpose: In team meetings, explicitly connect daily tasks to larger organizational goals. Reminding everyone of their impact reinforces their value and the shared mission. Help everyone tap into their full potential by emphasizing and celebrating their impact.
Promote Cross-Functional Support: The year-end stretch is always extra busy and can sometimes require all hands on deck. When everyone is able to participate in meetings, you can proactively pull people together and find some help that people may not have realized was available. When the full support network is around, no one will feel like they have to navigate challenges alone.
By taking these small but meaningful actions, you can powerfully counteract seasonal disconnection and build a more resilient, inclusive, and successful team.
