Navigate Coaching Conversations with Data

August 9, 2023

One of the many benefits of Truvelop is the messaging our Customer Success team sends to leaders and managers twice a month. Through Truvelop Tips, we share best practices, proactive recommendations, and quicks tips with end users on various topics. Here is an excerpt from the most recent Truvelop Tip: Navigate Coaching Conversations with Data.

Having a coaching conversation can feel daunting. You want to help your employee improve, but sometimes it can be tough to know where to start. Throughout the year, you’re collecting data in Truvelop. From regular Evaluations, to in-the-moment Sparks, you’ve been painting a picture of the employee experience and how they’ve been performing. This data can be the foundation from which you open an objective and transparent coaching conversation.

By collecting ongoing data on employee performance, you’re always letting the employee know where they stand and what they can do to grow. You’re able to offer support and encouragement throughout their employee journey and help them stay on the right track. You’ve been collecting a lot of data in Truvelop, but do you know how to best use it?

Breaking Down Summary Reporting is all about learning how to best leverage the data that auto-populates in the Team Member Dashboard, based on the most recent performance evaluation. This data is a great starting point for discussions regarding where the employee stands today.

In order for the data to be meaningful, it needs to be relevant. Be sure to regularly collect up-to-date Sparks and Evaluations before entering into a performance check-in. This will also allow you to better assess progress and next steps.

As a Manager, you’re in the best position to influence your team’s experience.  Leveraging data to have objective, transparent check-ins allows you to continue to strengthen your relationships with your direct reports, while outlining efficient paths towards growth and development.  Truvelop is here to support you on that journey, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with feedback or questions.
