At Truvelop, we know that change isn’t just manager-driven. Employees have the ability to drive their own experience and create an environment that inspires growth and engagement. That’s why Truvelop sends out monthly Truvelop Tips directly to the employees of each of our clients. Here’s an excerpt from July’s Employee Truvelop Tip: Reflect to Refocus.
Research suggests that over half of workers report feeling burned out, with some studies even showing rates as high as 82% (SHRM). Burnout isn’t sustainable, so how can you start to alleviate any feelings of being overwhelmed and undervalued?
If you’re feeling disengaged or burnt out, or just find yourself feeling the summer slump and bit more strongly this year, advocate for yourself by scheduling an employee assessment with your manager. Your Manager wants to see you thrive, but they first need to know where you stand. Head into the second half of the year with a plan by reflecting on these 3 questions:
- On a scale of 1-10, how engaged are you currently feeling by your work? Your manager wants to know how you’re doing. Your engagement is a top priority.
- What percentage of your work do you currently find inspiring? Knowing what inspires you can help your manager to incorporate more of that kind of work or something similar.
- What percentage of your work do you find demotivating? Knowing what is actively demotivating you or causing you stress can help your manager to work to mitigate this kind of work for you.
Your organization wants to create an empowering environment that supports your engagement. That starts with a meaningful check-in around how you’re doing and how you’re feeling towards your work. By reflecting on what’s going well and where you need support, your manager can tailor their guidance to best meet your current needs.
